National Cancer Survivors Day
On Sunday June 1, 2008 cancer survivors, their families and thousands
of health professionals around the world will celebrate the 21st
annual National Cancer Survivors Day. Communities throughout the
United States, Australia, Canada and other participating countries
will come together to celebrate and reflect on life after cancer.
The annual event began in 1987 and is one of the fastest growing
annual cancer survivor events. It is organized by the non-profit
National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation which supports hospitals,
support groups, and cancer-related organizations and is normally
held on the first Sunday in June. The event provides free guidance,
cancer education and networking opportunities.
This year 12 countries and territories will celebrate the event
including:
- United States
- Australia
- Canada
- Italy
- India
- Malaysia
- Netherlands
